Parsha Paradise/פרשה פרדס – Metzora: What “will be the Torah of the Metzora”? ??‍♂️
Vayikra 14:2
זֹ֤את תִּֽהְיֶה֙ תּוֹרַ֣ת הַמְּצֹרָ֔ע בְּי֖וֹם טָֽהֳרָת֑וֹ וְהוּבָ֖א אֶל־הַכֹּהֵֽן
“This will be the teaching of the Metzora on the day of his purity and he shall be brought to the Kohein.”
     There are some odd and superfluous words here. What is or ‘will be’ the ‘Torah of the Metzora’?
     In other words: (1) What does the Torah mean that it ‘will be’? And (2) what even is the ‘Torah Metzora’?
     The word “Tihiyeh”-“will be” comes to teach that the following procedure (the smearing of the bird blood and his shaving) will invariably be available for the purification of the Metzora, even if there is no Beis HaMikdash to bring the requisite Korbanos.
Vayikra Rabbah 16:6 points out that the Torah writes the word “Torah” five times in reference to Tzara’as/Metzora to teach that one who speaks Lashon HaRa violates all five books of the Torah.
(אָמַר רַבִּי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן לֵוִי חָמֵשׁ תּוֹרוֹת כְּתוּבוֹת בַּמְּצֹרָע (ויקרא יג, נט): זֹאת תּוֹרַת נֶגַע צָרַעַת, (ויקרא יד, ב): זֹאת תִּהְיֶה תּוֹרַת הַמְצֹרָע, (ויקרא יד, לב): זֹאת תּוֹרַת אֲשֶׁר בּוֹ נֶגַע צָרָעַת, (ויקרא יד, נד): זֹאת הַתּוֹרָה לְכָל נֶגַע הַצָּרַעַת, (ויקרא יד, נז): זֹאת תּוֹרַת הַצָּרָעַת. זֹאת תִּהְיֶה תּוֹרַת הַמְצֹרָע, הַמּוֹצִיא שֵׁם רָע, לְלַמֶּדְךָ שֶׁכָּל הָאוֹמֵר לָשׁוֹן הָרָע עוֹבֵר עַל חֲמִשָּׁה חֻמְשֵׁי תוֹרָה, לְפִיכָךְ משֶׁה מַזְהִיר אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל: זֹאת תִּהְיֶה תּוֹרַת הַמְצֹרָע.)
     Chidah, in Chomas Anach, points out an additional Remez that the word וְהוּבָא, “and he shall be brought (to the Kohein)” can be rearranged to spell וְאָהוּב, “and he is beloved,” to teach us that which Rambam explains in Hilchos Teshuvah [6] that one who does Teshuvah is beloved by Hashem.
 וְהוּבָא = וְאָהוּב
     The Gemara in Menachos [5A] derives from the extra word “Tihiyeh”-“will be” that the entire procedure must be in order. It “will be” exactly as it is described.
     Kli Yakar/Chasam Sofer/Agra D’Kala (B’nei Yissoscher)/Noam Elimelech all suggest a similar idea which we will summarize simply.
     The Torah implies that the “Torah” of the Metzora “will be” the source of his purity, i.e. if he learns and returns to the Torah, diligently studies and accepts the rules of Lashon HaRa, then his Teshuvah will be lasting!
     We should be Zocheh to return to Hashem’s Torah and reach the day of ultimate purity with the coming of Moshiach, Bimheirah BiYomeinu! Have a GREAT Shabbos HAGADOL!
